What is the Sacred Trust?

Simply put, the Sacred Trust is a personal commitment to a weekly prayer meeting. The priesthood in the Tabernacle of David and the Temple of Old both had sacred times of a morning and an evening sacrifice. This pattern of morning and evening sacrifice was also carried over by the New Covenant Church through the prayer life of their daily fellowship. This corporate devotion to prayer was and continues to be the sacred duty and pleasure entrusted to all the people of God… "These all with one accord were continually devoting themselves to prayer" (Act 1:14).

At SATHoP, it is our conviction that this corporate call to prayer is our primary responsibility. 1st Peter says of us, that we are a royal priesthood - living stones - built together as a spiritual house to proclaim the excellencies of Christ. As a kingdom of priests, we are chiefly called to stand before the Lord, to serve Him, to minister to Him, and burn incense—which is prayer, praise, worship, adoration, and thanksgiving. This is our present call, and our eternal destiny.

The Sacred Trust is the centerpiece of our mission that keeps us actively engaged with Jesus as a fellowship. Although many good works naturally flow from the prayer room, the prayer and worship culture of the Church is paramount in order to keep ourselves in love by praying—just as we’re exhorted to by Jude 20 & 21. This is important because - according to 1st Corinthians 13 - without love, we are counted as nothing, and can give nothing.

We invite you to join the Sacred Trust. You can commit to simply attending; however, there are Positions of Trust (service) available as well (i.e. usher, prayer leader, worship team member/leader, sound tech). If you are interested in serving in a position of trust, let us know and let a member of the staff know. You’re also invited to begin to attend without committing right away in order to see what works with your schedule.

Your commitment should be taken seriously as it is a sacred duty entrusted to you. We want to carry the - Psalm 27:4 - Davidic vision of dwelling in the House of The Lord all the days of our lives. That being said, there is no formal time commitment (i.e. 3 months, 6 months, etcetera). We understand that life happens, schedules and capacities change. Just notify your team leader of any changes in your schedule or challenges that arise. Grace-grace, but don’t be flakey.

Lastly, the greatest service that ministers to the Lord is that you enjoy Him. He delights in your nearness. Song of Songs 4:9 says that with even one glance toward Him we ravish His heart. Remember the cry of Jesus’ profound prayer in John 17:24: that He simply want’s us with Him where He is. So you beloved, persevere in enjoying the Lord with us as we keep a corporate gaze on Christ. It was worth a trip from Heaven to Earth where the cross and the grave awaited Him in order to make a way for us to be a kingdom of priests with Him in His resurrection and ascension (Psalm 110). Compelled by love, He first changed His routine for your sake in order that you may draw near. Therefore, let us reexamine our routines in light of eternity and His gift to us.
